Emma's Photo a Day 2018

After a morning involving a small fire, no rain but the promise of much rain to come, and some hurried timing before a final relax, we were dressed and looking good, and made it inside but the rain got so loud it started drowning out the sound and then the marquee flooded . . . But there were plenty of Plan Bs in place and a great time had by all.

There are so many things that I could have photoed today but it seems I didn’t and instead have a photo from my morning walk instead. So nice to start the day with a walk when normally I’d be driving off to work.  Next task was the gathering of the leaves, which in the end required 4 of us, a ladder and many garden shears, and a tarp to relocate them to our driveway for sorting. Not to mention 4 people again after lunch cleaning sorting and measuring, comparisons were indeed made to Narcos . . . Although our product has far less street value.  Lunch too was full of photo ops, somewhere down the road that I’ve never been before and didn’t even realise how pretty the courtyard was.  After a quick leaf bundle up into my car that was now filled with foliage it was battling the traffic and finishing the task list before finally relaxing with some wine around 9-10 and getting a good nights sleep before the big day. 

Unfortunately this Bay hedge was a bit too manicured for use but luckily on the other side was a bounty of leaves ready for chopping the following day.

Oh the things we sometime receive. This is taking the photos on desk series to another level.

I both underestimated a bit on the shredded paper and hugely overestimated on the size of box I bought for this wedding present. Needless to say it looked immense and was actually quite heavy due to some of its contents, but hopefully they got excitement from opening it.  And didn’t get shredded paper everywhere afterwards . . . 

I’ve become quite lazy with the desk photos but it’s become a good way to ensure I at least have something to go with. We’re still getting a fruit box each week as someone won it which is nice. Actually a very nice apple but I suppose it tis the season for them. 

There were many other things happening today of course but none else were really photoed well.

A walk this morning and something a bit different on the mountain. Not really captured well on my phone and the zoom doesn’t capture it either but they are flowers and it does mix it up a bit.

Not actually a link between title and picture as this is a work morning tea and not for Kirsty’s birthday but that cake is to come

Easter sheep? I’m not sure but I do know it’s delicious. Whoops ignore the above as I am not paying proper attention to me dates at all. So it’s not chocolate sheep on my desk today but carrot cake Hersey’s kisses instead. There’s really way too much sugar at my workplace.

After a weekend of much baking for cake components, I had another one to do today. Planning on using Limes straight from my tree, but they were a liiiiitle bit small still and after juicing like 20 of them I had hardly any juice so had to do a bit of a hunt around to find some additions. Luckily there was a lemon on the tree, and an orange in the fruit bowl to help up the quantity, not ideal but I didn't really have the time to wait around til I could get more.

There could be quite the series of images of "photos taken on my desk". Thankfully not all of them make it on as I find something else better later in the day, but today it seems this is the best it got.

I didn't really properly track how long this walk was, but most of Britomart and the Viaduct/Tank Farm then up to and along Ponsonby, through K Rd and back down Queen St/High St. Mission to track down owls, and got halfway through, although the rest are a bit more spread over the city.

They'd given out letters announcing when this road working was going to be happen on then pretty much did none of it in those times. Today could hear very loud trucks out the window and they were tarring and metalling the road with immense amounts of gravel. While I was originally not really planning on going out by car I then found I needed to, but only kinda got blocked once trying to get back in and signal to the people that I lived in one of the houses behind their cones. So bloody noisy that night though with all the cars crunching on the gravel, kept me up and woke me up the next day.

I'd like to say I took this because I could spot something in the patterns, but actually not at all, I just remembered I should take a better photo than the one I'd already taken of the carpet inside ....... And turned my camera upwards to capture something. Plus points if you can spot some sort of shape in the patterns.

If I were ever so inclined but I don't think I will be, it may be interesting to compare my 5 years ago photos with the current year to see how many times the lazy find something around the house photos are also in the last lot. As I'm pretty sure this one was, although in Sydney I think I just had the one, and I was using it better than I am now which is lazily not putting anything back to hang.

There definitely was something going on outside today, apparently a raging fire, although all I could see was all the smoke billowing most of the day. Wouldn't have wanted to be downstream from there.

I either forgot to take a photo of something interesting this day, or there really was nothing more interesting than the ceiling

As I'm doing this so late after the fact, I'm possibly completely wrong in thinking this was the Monday that a cyclone came through later on, as from the look of my photo the water has not a wrinkle on it, and it's hardly ever this calm.

Journey down to the Viaduct to look around the Volvo Ocean Race set up. Was some quite interesting videos, which just make me think how absolutely insane those people are for doing this race.

Bit of a walk today, including the newly developed "entrance" to Cornwall Park, but not really but kind of, and this helpful sign to tell us to enjoy ourselves .....

This reminder however did not make me follow it's instructions at a later point in time. I really should work on the mid week excitement factor, and actually I think this was a Friday so just an anytime excitement factor!

GREEN. So pretty, so calming, just all round superior really.

Sorry time has run away with me somehow? I thiiiiiink I've at least got a photo for every day since but it's a bit of a lottery as to what they are.
